Can I talk to you about some of my ideas? It’s about responsibility. When I was in China, I disliked the Chinese, I thought they were a bunch of social Darwinian assholes. Likewise, I don’t like most Asians.
Marine Le Pen and Viktor Orbán would probably have gotten 80% of the vote if they were born in China. But what’s even more interesting is that I can guess that 80% of the people in China wouldn’t want to go to the polls.
The West is right, no dictator represents the majority of people in society, but again, the majority of people tacitly allow dictators to use have power. Because the people don’t want to be in charge, they want a master to help them make decisions.
I am now very suspicious of the liberal ideology that assumes that freedom is a necessity for people. But my experience tells me that many people actually like slavery.
I can make an analogy with you, when a soldier kills someone, if he is prosecuted, he will scream that he is innocent and that he just obeyed his officer’s orders.
The unlucky officer is the dictator, and it looks like he ordered the soldier to kill. But it was really the soldiers who needed him. They needed someone to shirk responsibility. Was Hitler really guilty of inhumanity? I doubt it, I think he was about as guilty before God as the average sadist.
I still think the real responsibility lies with everyone who worked in the camps, and the people who supported Hitler silently. Everyone sinned, but they would pass the buck to someone else, usually their leader, their master. And the person on whom the whole community shifts the responsibility becomes the dictator. People want to do bad things, but they don’t do them themselves, they want their leaders to do them for them. I think ordinary Chinese people are heartily happy about the Xinjiang concentration camps and the police brutality in Hong Kong. Because they think the land in Xinjiang and the wealth in Hong Kong will flow to them.
Most Americans would hate refugees too, they just don't say it, trump is just a demagogue and a businessman, he knows what people want.
